https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQoNAjy1rQ4- Stranger Things Season 3, 00:00-02:20

This scene is from Netflix's hit series "Stranger Things" in particular i picked out the scene from the finale of season 3 as i believe the way they finished the series finale is extremely significant, leaving their audience with a sense of nostalgia and reminiscence from this season. The scene opens up with a medium shot and two shot of the protagonist Eleven who's seen holding a teddy bear (Prop) which already creates a sense of nostalgia as based on how shabby the teddy bear is looking we can see it's probably her teddy bear from her childhood and she's grown up with it and become attached. In this two shot we can also see the other character Joyce who acts as a carer for Eleven as her dad is supposedly "dead" and they are moving out of their house (which they have had lived in since season 1) therefore the audience feels like they're leaving this location with them. We can also see that the lighting is this scene is more low-key than high-key possibly to highlight the sadness the characters are feeling of leaving their house and also grieving the passing of Eleven's dad. We then see a straight cut and an over the shoulder shot so that we as a audience feel like we're in a conversation with Eleven as we have been part of their journey since the beginning of the series. We can hear diegetic sound of dialogue whilst the camera tilts upwards from the letter that Hopper (Eleven's dad) wrote for her into a close up of Joyce's face in order for us to see her emotions, how she's grieving and reminiscing. We see an example of shot reverse shot between Joyce and Eleven to portray how they're having a conversation, however when the camera shows Joyce we don't see Eleven's shoulder as if to purposefully make the audience feel as if we're standing right by Eleven experiencing the same thing as Joyce does not make direct adress with the audience/camera. We then see a straight cut with a slow zoom in of Eleven laying down and opening her letter where we can see back lights have been used to create an effect of light shining through her window from behind her. Then we start to hear non-diegetic sound of a voiceover which is Eleven's dad reading the letter he wrote to her as she is reading it. We then see another straight cut of a flashback from when Hopper was actually practicing to read out this letter to Eleven and from his perspective. We then have a close up of Hopper actually reading this letter out loud which becomes diegetic sound, as well as non-diegetic emotional music starts to play in the background as he is reading his letter. We can see top lighting has been used in order to highlight Hopper as i believe this was a moment where he finally let out all his fears and worries so that we as an audience can see he is in a vulnerable postion which makes us feel sympathy for him. We then see another zoom in from a different angle as if we as an audience are really being let in to witness this character who never liked talking about emotions become exposed and vulnerable. We can see this whole film sequence is being filmed at a slow pace purposefully to show how hard it has been for Hopper to think of what to say as well as to show him slowly opening up more and more for the audience. We then see a close-up of his hands writing down on the letter. We then go from a low-key lighting setting to a more high-key lighting setting through the use of slight panning and the scene goes from the flashback of Hopper writing the letter to the present of Joyce, Eleven and Will saying their goodbyes to their friends, with the use of a soundbridge of Hopper's voiceover and we see a montage of everyone saying their goodbyes with medium shots for us to see their emotions. We see panning being used in order to show  how close they are with eachother and really creates an emotional moment for the audience who have been following these characters since they were kids almost as if the audience can relate to Hopper's voiceover that he is saying in the background. We then see a tilt going downwards from the sky in order to show us them leaving their old house with an over the shoulder shot as if we're watching them leave us as well like the other characters.
