Sound analysis: Blog tasks

  1) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film: Diegetic and non-diegetic sound Parallel and contrapuntal sound Sound bridges Remember to discuss/analyse all the different types of sound present in the clip: Music Dialogue Voiceover Sound effects https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuV9y7TRFyI       00:00-02:00 From the beginning of the scene we can hear diegetic sound of the zombies snarling and the man shouting ( dialogue ), we then hear the squeak of the door turning and the sound of gun shots. Also from the beginning we can hear non-diegetic sound because of the tense music . We can hear the music building up when the characters get stuck in the revolving door foreshadowing that something is clearly going to happen. All throughout this scene there is a use of a sound bridge as we can hear the sound of the zombies snarling between scene cuts. Shortly after we ca

Sound practical Task

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06lxe8F52n0 In the first 30 seconds of my clip it includes images of ballroom, classical dancing that are parallel  to the classical music. Whereas the rest of the 30 seconds includes images featuring rock/heavy metal concerts, singers, bands, crowds that are contrapuntal to the classical music playing in the background. All throughout my clip we see a use of a sound bridge as the images change every 2 seconds however the same classical music is playing throughout. I decided to use images that are related to music as you can really tell by the type of music people listen to what they are like and how different the images look if you put them together with a different musical style.

Lighting Blog Tasks

Still image analysis.                        Identify examples of  high   and   low-key   lighting.                        Say which depict  top ,   back   or   under lighting .                           What  effects  are created by the lighting in each image? In this image, there is a use of low-key lighting as we can see most of her face is covered in a shadow and only the side of her face is in the light creating this enigma code of her being seen as sinister and sly. There is no top, back or underlighting in this particular image however there is a filler light coming from the left side which only emphasises the cheek bone and side of her head and only allows the audience to focus on the smoke more. Due to her face being mainly covered in a shadow, it portrays her as a sort of femme fatale with possibly ominous intentions as well as the smoke creating an even more eerie atmosphere.  In this image, there is a use of low-key lighting as we can only make out her facial features

  1) Type up your feedback from your teacher in full. WWW: Cinematography- Bird's eye shot, Good voi ce over, Appropriate location- grass/leaves, Appropriate costume, Appropriate facial expression EBI: Highlight keywords, Audio editing- no diegetic sound, no bird song, silence at start, hoodie wrong colour. 2) Use the feedback you've been given to write your own self-assessment of your video using WWW (What Went Well) and EBI (Even Better If...) WWW: Well recreated setting, good camera shots, well recreated facial expression. EBI: Audio editing, long pause at start, hoodie wrong colour.  3) Now reflect on your own work in more detail. How did your planning help clarify and develop your ideas?   Planning our recreation task helped us get the exact camera shot we needed to get which was bird's eye view, we also knowing what setting we needed got to find a good spot to film the scene, we knew Leila had to wear a hoodie for the scene so we managed to plan it out to be as accura
