Mise-en-scene: Recreation task

My scene is a recreation of the comedy-drama TV programme called "The End of the F****ing World"

Costume: Leila in the clip is wearing a hoodie just like Alyssa is in the scene to represent possibly simple teenage fashion.

Lighting: For lighting we just used basic natural lighting to emphasise the fact that she is outside on the grass just like the original scene.

Actor placement: Leila is positioned in the centre of the scene just like the protagonist to present that the focus is on her and that she is the main character.

Make-up: We had Leila have her hair sort of sprawled on the floor to present that she is lying on the ground.

Props: There aren't really any props in this scene.

Setting; We've set this scene underneath a tree outside in a grassy area to replicate the original and had Leila lie down on the grass just like Alyssa did in the scene.

Script:

"I get these moments where i have to lie down because everything feels sort of, too much... And i look up and see the blue or the grey or the black.. And i feel myself melting into it and for a split second, i feel free. And happy. Innocent. Like a dog. Or an alien. Or a baby."

Shot list:

00:00-00:07- Medium shot

00:08- End- Close-up

The scene involves one of the main characters (Alyssa) who we are being introduced to and finding out more about her character. In this particular scene she is found lying on the ground looking up at the sky and we see that Alyssa based on the dialogue prefers being alone and is quite different to the normal typical teenage girl stereotype. She is set on the ground with the camera looking down on her to reinforce the fact that she is lying down and looking up at the sky. The camera angle then switches from her to her point of view which is the sky and a tree. We used a close-up/zoom in on her face to emphasise how relaxed her facial expression seems when she is alone. We also made Leila wear a hoodie just like Alyssa to possibly present typical teenage fashion represented in the series. We had Leila be in the centre of the camera just like Alyssa in the shot to present her as the focus of this scene and that she is the main character. We used a voice-over to represent that the audience is hearing the main character's mind instead of her actually saying it.
